Labor Force Database
This data warehouse stores records and statistics about employed and unemployed individuals. There are four different data suppliers of labor force information: the Department of Statistics (DOS), the Social Security Corporation, the Civil Service Bureau, and the Ministry of Labor.
I. Department of Statistics: Established in 1949, this governmental department is responsible for conducting major surveys about the Jordanian labor market. Among these are the: a. Employment and Unemployment Survey: a quarterly household sample survey, that provides aggregate information, in percentages, denoting the main characteristics of the population, employed and unemployed Jordanians according to age, gender, level of education, occupation, field of education, and unemployment duration. Employment Survey: an annual sample survey for establishments that includes all public sector establishments as well as all private sector establishments with more than (50) employees and a sample representing all other formal sector remaining establishments. This survey offers specific information, numerical and percentages, about the employed Jordanians regarding their: age, gender, occupation, field of education, average wage. In addition, there is information available regarding the establishment’s size, location and type of activities. See the methodology for more information.
II. Social Security Corporation: The Social Security Corporation has its’ own administrative database with information of individuals on pension and registered in this establishment who actually still work in private and public sectors establishment with more than five employees. This database includes information about participants related to their wage, gender, age, and economic activity for the establishment. Al-Manar database has information about establishments registered in social Security Corporation by economic activity, sector, and ownership.
III. Civil Service Bureau: The Civil Service Bureau is a governmental organization which has its’ own administrative database contains individual information about government employees under the Civil–Service By Law, which includes information about: age, gender, field of education, level of education, salary, status, location. In addition information about job-seekers, presented to this department, consist of the following: age, gender, major, education, and location.
IV. Ministry of Labor: This governmental organization has its’ own administrative database with information about those permitted foreign workers and the names of establishments they work for. It has, basically, details about wages, nationality, gender, age, occupation, field of education, level of education, and the economic activity of the establishment.
